As Christmas movies begin to take over streaming platforms (even though it’s only mid November), one particular Netflix hit was actually filmed in a few towns in Ontario.
Hot Frosty is kind of like the original Frosty the Snowman story but, well, with a hot guy. The movie stars Dustin Milligan as the snowman and Lacey Chabert of Mean Girls as love interest Kathy, as well as Joe Lo Truglio, Craig Robinson, and even Chrishell Stause of Selling Sunset.
The attractive snowman in Hot Frosty magically comes to life in the small town of Hope Springs in the movie.
Except where all the Hot Frosty hijinx take place isn’t Hope Springs at all, but rather several Ontario towns.
What’s supposed to be the town of Hope Springs is actually Brockville, a town along the St. Lawrence River in southeastern Ontario. It proved the perfect setting for many outdoor scenes in the movie.
The place where many of the movie’s festive activities take place, including a snow sculpture competition, is actually Court House Avenue in Brockville.
Court House Avenue is also where the Keystorm Pub is located at 2 Court House Ave., which stands in for Kathy’s Kafe in the movie. Some sheriff’s office scenes were also filmed upstairs at the pub. Cozy and versatile!
While the pub served as the filming location for some indoor sheriff’s office scenes, the exterior shots of the sheriff’s office were filmed not far away at 21 Court House Ave. at the law office of Stewart Corbett.
Some other parts of the movie were also filmed in Canada’s capital, Ottawa. Hope Springs Middle School where a holiday dance takes place is actually Century Public School, and Kathy and Jack’s snowball fight takes place outside reStays Hotel on Queen Street in Ottawa.
Last but certainly not least, Kathy’s home in Hot Frosty is actually located at 175 Elgin St. in Almonte, which is about 90 minutes from Brockville.
