Toronto has its fair share of smash burgers, but it will soon be getting a new source for burgers served up Oklahoma-style.

Oklahoma Burgers is named after its signature dish, an Oklahoma-style burger with a smashed patty, American cheese, grilled onions and burger sauce.

“Oklahoma burgers, also known as onion burgers, are a burger style that originated in Oklahoma during the Great Depression,” reads the restaurant’s website.

“They are made with thinly sliced onions that are mixed into the beef patty and then cooked together on a griddle. The onions caramelize as they cook, infusing the burger with a sweet and savory flavor. The result is a thin and crispy burger that is typically served on a potato bun.”

They also make classic smash burgers, and other signature burgers like the OJ Double with two patties, white cheddar cheese, onion jam and garlic confit sauce, the SHMAC Double with two patties, white cheddar cheese, pickled pink onions, crispy fried onions, mayo and BBQ sauce, and the Brisket Jalapeno Triple Smash with three patties, diced smoked brisket, white cheddar cheese and jalapeno.

The restaurant even serves a burger topped with bone marrow sauce. As for sides, they have spicy fries and onion rings, and for dessert there’s a deep-fried peanut butter and jelly donut.

Oklahoma Burgers has previously only had one location in Mississauga at 10 Kingsbridge Garden Circle, but now they’re bringing their smash burger goodness to the heart of downtown Toronto.

Signage is now up for a location of Oklahoma Burgers at King and Simcoe which should be opening soon.
