Restaurants that opened in July in Toronto are some of the city’s best new destinations for Chinese food, burgers, steak, chicken and barbecue. Some of these places are as beautiful as the food they serve and others are more low-key, but either way they’re some of the hottest spots to grab a bite to eat right now.
Here’s a look at restaurants that opened last month:
This acclaimed Chinese restaurant with locations around the globe soft opened their first Toronto space in mid-July. That means you can now get some of the fanciest Peking duck, dumplings and fried rice in the world at Toronto’s Shangri-La Hotel near Queen and University.
The menu is jaw-dropping, and the space is equally impressive, with both the food and design of the restaurant reflecting a blend of traditional and modern influences.
The mind behind Burger’s Priest and Fourth Man in the Fire is back at it with a brand new burger restaurant in Etobicoke, specializing in fresh ground, flame broiled burgers.
The menu starts off with Harry and Heels donuts (also available at Fourth Man) and moves on to burgers, chili cheese dogs, chili cheese fries and shakes.
The second location of this prix-fixe steak restaurant just opened in July in Little Italy. Not only are they serving the same set menu of steak, buttery sauce and all-you-can-eat fries at the new location, the new spot also comes with a back garden patio.
This new location has a chic Parisian-style dining room with a full view of an open dessert kitchen, as well as European-inspired street side seating that’s exclusively available for cocktails and dessert.
The team behind Amano Trattorie and Bar Notte opened this piano bar and restaurant near the end of July. The bistro-style menu has Italian, French and Spanish influences, and they’re serving up dishes like grilled oysters and lamb.
Not only is this a fabulous new restaurant, they have nightly music and fun cocktails at the bar, so there’s now a new place to listen to some jazz, big band or piano music by great local talent.
Downtowners now have easier access to the Texas-style barbecue from this restaurant with a new location that just opened near Yonge and Wellesley.
That means cravings for brisket, chicken, devilled egg potato salad, poblano slaw and mac n’ cheese are now that much more easily satisfied, no matter where you are in the city.
At the beginning of the month, this Quebec-based restaurant chain opened their first Ontario location in Scarborough. They serve halal Portuguese chicken, with options like combos, bowls, sandwiches, poutine and wings.
The best part is, this new location has a special menu where everything is $10, and everything Monteiro serves is halal.
