A restaurant owner and chef behind many top Thai restaurants in Toronto is at it again with a brand new project that’s opening its doors this week.
Chef Nuit Regular and her team are behind popular restaurants Pai, Sukhothai and Kiin, and recently signalled that they’d be changing their spot Selva into a new restaurant and karaoke bar called Tha Phae Tavern.
The new space is named for the Tha Phae Gates in Thailand, a traditional community hub.
“Inspired by the energy of Chiang Mai’s Tha Phae Gate and our love for Thailand’s street bars, late-night eats, and karaoke scene, we’ve created a space where guests can come together over amazing drinks, bold flavours, incredible atmosphere, and even better company to create unforgettable memories together,” reads a social media post from Tha Phae Tavern.
“So get ready for Thai-inspired cocktails, crave-worthy bar snacks, karaoke tunes, claw machine prowess, and an unbeatable vibe that will take you straight to Tha Phae Gate.”
The post also notes they’ll be open for walk-in service only for the first few days of operation.
Posts to the restaurant’s Instagram story from their friends and family soft opening show that once Tha Phae opens to the public, the menu might include items like five spice pork belly bao, Isaan-style pork larb, Thai fried fish balls and jungle-style papaya salad.
Tha Phae Tavern at 221 Richmond St. W. should be opening on April 3.
