Chop Steakhouse has long been teasing the opening of a new Toronto location, but now it’s finally opening this week.

The restaurant is known for its variety of steak dishes along with other steakhouse classics like seafood. They have locations in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Nova Scotia and Manitoba.

The steakhouse also already has multiple Ontario locations in Vaughan, Oakville, Mississauga, London, Ottawa and at the airport on Dixon Road.

Now, their newest and only downtown Toronto location is opening this week at 181 University Ave.

The new location is also poised to become one of the larger Chop restaurants, spanning 11,000 square feet over two levels with a capacity of over 400.

Not only is the steakhouse opening a brand new location, there will also be new items on the menu there like a shareable “Butcher’s Block” with steak and seasonal sides and a sticky toffee pudding sundae.

“This opening has been two years in the making, and a vision I’ve held for over 15 years,” said Steve Tokos, owner of Chop Toronto, Downtown, in a press release. “Bringing this project to life has been a remarkable challenge. However, we are confident that we’ll make a strong impression with the incredible team we have, and become a favourite destination for our downtown Toronto guests.”

“Our newest opening in Toronto, Downtown is an exciting milestone for our team, helping us to continue creating signature and memorable moments for our guests,” said Dave Campbell, president and COO of Chop, in a release. “For over 17 years, we have worked diligently to challenge the status quo of steakhouses with a menu that is designed to centre flavour, quality ingredients, and innovation. Our goal is to take a simple dining experience, elevate it, and turn it into something truly special.”

Chop should be opening their new downtown Toronto location on Dec. 3.
