Nobu has finally announced they should be opening their first ever Canadian location in Toronto next month, after years of anticipation.

The worldwide restaurant brand is a favourite of celebs, and was founded by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa along with Robert De Niro.

The Toronto location of Nobu in the Entertainment District will encompass a restaurant, hotel and residences, with the restaurant and bar spanning two levels. The second level bar will have an outdoor terrace, and the dining room will have a capacity of 140 seats. There will also be a sushi bar and private dining rooms seating 10 to 20.

The Nobu Toronto menu should include classic dishes like yellowtail sashimi, rock shrimp tempura and miso black cod, complemented by a bold cocktail list. The restaurant will encompass a ground floor bar and lounge for light bites and drinks, and there will be a living-room-style Sakura Lounge breakfast area exclusively for hotel guests. In-room dining will also be available from Nobu 24 hours a day, every day.

The Nobu Toronto website promises a “design-forward atmosphere” and “thoughtful, attentive service infused with Omotenashi, the Japanese spirit of hospitality.”

It also says the “Toronto luxury hotel embodies the Japanese philosophy of Shiawase — a celebration of happiness and well-being” with a 24/7 “private sanctuary for wellness enthusiasts” with a private pilates room, Peloton bikes and Technogym equipment.

Nobu is opening in Toronto at 33 Mercer St. in early August.
