One of the world's best bartenders is hosting a bar takeover in Toronto

One of the world’s best bartenders is coming to Toronto, and we have the inside scoop.

Renowned mixologist Takuma Watanabe, winner of both the Spirits Business Awards Bartender of the Year and Best Bartender in North America (2024), is launching his first-ever bar takeover in Canada.

According to an official release, the Deauville Club x Takuma Wanatabe Bar Takeover is scheduled for Feb. 23 and 24, 2025, at the glamorous Deauville Club in the Revery Hotel in Toronto’s Entertainment District.

“I’m so excited to visit Canada and finally bring my cocktails to Deauville Club! I’ve heard amazing things about the bar scene here, and I can’t wait to meet everyone and share a great night. Let’s make it unforgettable,” said Watanabe in an official statement.

Watanabe is best known for his approach to the American cocktail landscape with dynamic inspirations from his Japanese upbringing and heritage.

As a result of years of inventive contributions to the global cocktail scene, Watanabe helped launch Martiny’s in 2022, one of New York’s most celebrated cocktail lounges in the heart of Manhattan.

During the takeover event, Watanabe will showcase some of Martiny’s most sought-after cocktails on the night of Feb. 23 —  while on Feb. 24 — he will shift gears and provide guests with a parade of cocktails inspired by Italian influence on the New York bar scene.
