While no one is in a rush to say goodbye to summer weather, the upcoming “sweater weather” season does offer a few things to look forward to, including an annual pumpkin festival at a bustling west-end shopping centre.

Halloween Night of Lights and Pumpkinville are back and will be opening at Sherway Gardens in Toronto’s Etobicoke neighbourhood on Sept. 28.

Organizers say the Halloween Night of Lights, returning for its fifth iteration, will feature new installations comprised of more than 1.5 million LED and RGB lights that will be animated and synchronized to Halloween songs.

Attendees can also check out Pumpkinville, a fun fair located at the end of the Nights of Lights trail that will feature enormous pumpkin sculptures (last year’s event at Scarborough Town Centre featured a whale made entirely out of pumpkins, to give one example) and a village made entirely out of 25,000 real pumpkins.

The experience will also feature dog-friendly dates, photo opportunities, amusement park rides and games, food trucks, licensed bars, a scavenger hunt, pumpkin-themed food and more.

The news release says the light event is a limited-capacity experience, so attendees must purchase timed tickets.

The immersive Halloween experience will last until Halloween, remaining open until Oct. 31. The experience will also remain open on Thanksgiving Monday (Oct. 14).

“Whether you’re seeking one-of-a-kind pumpkin sculptures, a pumpkin patch in the city, striking nighttime lights display, midway rides and games, or an outdoor pumpkin-themed experience with dozens of fall-themed instagramable memories, there’s something for everyone,” the news release says.

Admission to Pumpkinville is free with the purchase of Halloween Night of Lights tickets, but attendees can also purchase tickets for Pumpkinville alone.

The experience will be located in Sherway’s outdoor parking lot across from the Hudson’s Bay and Cactus Club.
