Phoenix Concert Theatre, which had announced it would be closing, has put out an update saying their continued operation is ensured for at least a couple more years.

The theatre has been around for over 30 years, and has hosted countless iconic concerts and events throughout its lifetime. The venue had posted on social media that they would be closing at their current location next year and were hoping to relocate.

A 42-storey mixed-use condominium building has been planned to replace the Phoenix at 410 Sherbourne.

Entertainment writer Bob Wheeler had posted to Twitter that Phoenix owners were looking for a new downtown location and that they should effectively be closing Jan. 15, 2025, as work is scheduled to begin on the development next year.

Now, it appears the Phoenix is getting a longer lease on life with an update saying that they’ll be able to extend their time operating on Sherbourne.

A post on social media simply reads, “We’re back!” with the caption “The Phoenix Rises Again! The Phoenix Concert Theatre announces a new agreement ensuring continued operation into 2026.”

The post has nearly 2,000 likes and over 160 comments on Instagram, with people rejoicing over the news.

“We need to continue fighting back against the condo development trying to take over this place,” one person commented. “Why another high rise in an area that is already so densely populated?”

For now, music lovers and Phoenix regulars should definitely have at least a couple more years of concerts at the beloved venue.
