Pickering’s brand new Fire Headquarters will get its special day this weekend when the City and Pickering Fire will celebrate the grand opening of Fire Station #1 on Zents Drive – the first new fire station in Pickering in more than a quarter-century.
The public is invited to the grand opening of the 21,000 sq. ft. facility on Sunday from 10:15 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a formal ceremony followed by tours, demonstrations and family activities.
“We are thrilled to be able to welcome the community into this new space and celebrate this incredible milestone with us,” said Pickering Fire Chief Stephen Boyd. “This is the first new fire hall built for the City in 26 years. Strategically located, it allows our fire staff to ensure effective response times and fire prevention and protection services to keep the infrastructure and residents of our growing community safe.”
Pickering’s newest public art piece, ‘One Horse Power’ by Bermingham Studio, will also be available for viewing. A second piece, ‘The 5 Sides of Pickering’ by Jason A. Das is currently being installed as well.
