The tail wagging the dog in Hamilton real estate seems to have brought an end to My Dog’s Café and Bar.
On Tuesday (Sept. 7), the popular pet stop posted to Instagram that it is being evicted from its 229 Locke St. South location after its landlord sold the property. The four-legged friendly hangout spot was opened by Wendy Perron in September 2016.
“After being given the keys to our Locke Street location 5 years ago this month, we are sad to say goodbye. On October 31st we are being evicted,” the post read. “Our landlord first decided to significantly raise our rent and before we could figure it out, decided to sell the property and have their lawyer put into our mailbox an eviction notice to vacate the property by October 31st.
“It doesn’t seem okay that in 60 days we have to say goodbye to you with nowhere to go, but (have to) close our doors and carry overwhelming debt meant to be covered by the café,” it added.
The café’s focus was on helping pet parents connect with their fur babies. It also offered a selection of raw dog food. It is rated 4.7 stars out of a possible 5 on Google reviews.
