While you might not be in the mood for ice cream (especially with the icy weather on the horizon), that doesn’t mean you won’t want to enjoy it in the spring.

Recently, Burlington residents reacted quite joyously after a picture emerged online suggesting that Kawartha Dairy, a family-owned ice cream and dairy brand headquartered in cottage country (Bobcaygeon, to be exact), plans to open a new location in the city in the spring.

The photo, shared on the Burlington Together Facebook group, shows the brand’s signage on a door in a plaza in the Walkers Line and Fairview area.

Two days ago, Kawartha Dairy officially announced the opening on Instagram.

“Our family is excited to announce that we are opening a new store in Burlington at 3465 Fairview Street. We can’t wait to be a part of your great family memories this summer, bringing you delicious fresh milk and rich and creamy ice cream, still made the traditional way,” the post reads.

Diners, it seems, are thrilled.

“Best news I have heard all year,” one person wrote on Facebook.

Others said that while the new store will likely ruin their diet, they’re okay with it.

“There go about 180,000 New Year’s resolutions, including mine,” another poster wrote.

Others shared fond memories of visiting other locations and said they’re looking forward to frequenting this one.

“Can’t wait to bring kids and hubby here! Used to go to one in Lindsay alll the time,” another poster wrote.

Kawartha Dairy currently operates 10 of its own retail stores, according to its official website. Along with ice cream, the company also sells milk, butter, cream, and egg nog during the festive season.
