A location of the popular Presse Cafe brand just quietly shut down their downtown Toronto location.

A member of a local Facebook neighbourhood group posted a photo of a sign in the window of the Omni King Edward location of Presse Cafe saying that they’ve closed.

“Presse Cafe is permanently closed,” reads the sign. “Please see the hotel staff for alternative coffee options.”

The person who posted the photo wrote in the caption that they had spoken to hotel staff who said something new would be taking the place of the Presse Cafe.

Presse Cafe is known for their menu of coffee and cafe fare, and they have locations in York, Unionville, Markham and Whitby. They also have a couple of locations in Ottawa. Their locations are mainly in Quebec with many clustered in Montreal.

The same space at the Omni King Edward was formerly home to another cafe chain, Bluestone. That Bluestone location never reopened after COVID lockdown restrictions were lifted.

The Presse Cafe at Omni King Edward permanently closed effective Sept. 1.
