Purple Grimace Shakes are arriving in Canada

The viral purple Grimace Shake is finally coming to Canada after people in the United States were able to get a taste first.
If you’ve been living under a rock, Grimace is the strangely iconic purple McDonald’s mascot whose ominous name seems at odds with the happy-go-lucky fast food chain. The purple shake was introduced in the States last summer in honour of Grimace’s “birthday.”
The Grimace Shake inspired a viral internet trend when it was first introduced, with people creating oddly surreal videos starring the purple drink. People online have said the purple shake has a berry flavour.
Grimace made an appearance at a Vancouver Canucks game a few weeks ago, and the McDonald’s Canada Instagram account posted an image of Grimace’s passport with a Canada stamp inside plus a purple USB key. Comments on the post are flooded with questions suspecting the famous Grimace Shake might be coming to Canada. McDonald’s Canada has also posted some content of Grimace “in Toronto” to their Instagram story.
“When the Grimace Shake dropped for our neighbours to the south, the response we got from fans here in Canada was overwhelming,” said Alyssa Buetikofer, chief marketing officer for McDonald’s Canada, in a press release. “Inspired by the sheer creativity and passion we saw for the Grimace Shake, we had to bring it to Canadian menus.”
The Grimace Shake is available at McDonald’s in Canada for a limited time starting May 14.
