A sibling restaurant and upstairs bar are closing down at a refurbished theatre in Toronto.

Paradise on Bloor underwent a huge transformation in recent years, not only updating the theatre but also adding a restaurant and bar to the space. The same block is also home to another affiliated restaurant, Cafe Paradise, as well as sister store Blue Door Bottle Shop.

The restaurant at the theatre is called Osteria Rialto, and the upstairs bar goes by Bar Biltmore. Rialto serves classic Italian fare with a modern touch, and is known for its indoor/outdoor feel with a pretty patio. Bar Biltmore has a speakeasy vibe and serves creative cocktails.

Both suddenly posted to their social media accounts announcing the closure of the restaurant and bar.

“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the closing of Osteria Rialto and Bar Biltmore. To our beloved Bloorcourt community and cherished guests: your support has meant the world to us, especially through these challenging times. Opening just 9 weeks before COVID hit, our journey has been tumultuous yet filled with unforgettable moments,” reads the post.

“We’re grateful for every guest who walked through our doors and became part of our story, and we hope to see you all in our final weeks of business. While this chapter ends, we’re thankful that our sister restaurant, Cafe Paradise, will continue to serve you. Our friends at Blue Door Bottle Shop and Paradise Theatre will also remain open, keeping the spirit of our corner at Bloor Street West & Westmoreland alive. From the bottom of our hearts, grazie mille.”

Many comments on both posts are asking what the last days will be for Rialto and Biltmore. While the restaurant doesn’t appear to be officially posting this information, reservations are available at Osteria Rialto until Aug. 3.
