Roads closed during weeklong Grey Cup celebrations in Hamilton

Some roads in and near downtown Hamilton will be closed during the Grey Cup Festival leading up to the championship game.
The 2023 Grey Cup Festival will take place Nov. 14 to 19. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Montreal Alouettes will face off during the 110th Grey Cup game Nov. 19 at Tim Hortons Field.
James Street North will be closed from York Boulevard to Cannon Street, and Cannon Street to Barton Street East from Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 12:01 a.m. to Sunday, Nov. 19 at 5 a.m. for the Grey Cup Street Festival.
From Nov. 18 to 20, the following roads won’t be accessible:
- Cannon Street: Melrose–Balsam (starting Nov. 15 at 9 p.m.)
- Cannon Street: Connaught–Barnesdale
- Melrose Avenue: Cannon–Beechwood
- Balsam Avenue: Cannon–Beechwood
- Beechwood Avenue: Melrose–Balsam
The festival will have more than 40 events – mostly free – for football fans and families. For instance, Fan Central will be the epicentre of the festival on James Street North, offering interactive activities, food, art installations and games. Concerts include local artists and global stars such as country singer Carrie Underwood at FirstOntario Centre and reggae legend Shaggy at the OLG Stage in Niagara Falls.
