A Toronto shipping container market that has been operating on a temporary basis for years has now finally become permanent.

Stackt has been operating for around five years in Toronto now. The project that spans a full city block was conceived as a unique showcase for small businesses, events and all kinds of concepts, with local businesses occupying small units for a short period of time.

They’ve now hosted 3,000 businesses and 1,800 events, contributed to creating over 10,000 jobs, and if you can believe it, have had over five million visitors.

A post from Stackt on social media thanks the community and the city “for providing a runway for the next +10 years.”

They’re also now starting up a community platform called StacktX that operates within Toronto and beyond. Free membership with the platform offers perks to small businesses like pop-up opportunities, mentorship, networking and partnerships. You can even win a free storefront lease through a special grant application program.

Small businesses can now apply to win free month-long pop-up spaces in Toronto or Ottawa, and Vancouver and Calgary locations should be launching later this year.

Stackt is now here to stay in Toronto at 28 Bathurst St. near Front and Bathurst.
