Shoe store just closed all their locations except for one in Mississauga

A shoe store with eight locations just suddenly announced they’re closing down seven of them and consolidating all operations into one store in Mississauga.
PLUS stands for “People Like Us,” a sneaker and streetwear store concept that’s been around for seven years and had locations at the Eaton Centre, Sherway Gardens, Rideau Centre, Chinook Centre, Pacific Centre and Square One. They also recently opened a flagship location at Yorkdale just a few months ago after having operated there on a temporary basis for a while, but even that location has also closed now, with Square One remaining as their only location left.
On May 29, PLUS posted a video to social media letting people know what was going on with all their stores having been closed except for Square One.
“We’ve been busy opening and renovating new locations throughout the last year,” says a staff member in the video.
“What you may not know is these moves were mandatory, making it challenging to control costs. We’ve made every attempt to find solutions and collaborate with our landlords, but the challenging economic climate has forced us to make difficult decisions.”
The video continued on to say they’ve “had to take drastic actions to survive.”
A week ago, the store posted again to social media letting people know they had officially closed seven of their eight locations including the Yorkdale flagship “due to unforeseen circumstances” and “global economic downturn.” The post goes on to thank their community for all their support and their staff.
There are lots of comments on the post from people saying they’ll miss the stores that have closed and that they’re looking forward to the next chapter.
