Starbucks just introduced a new line of spicy iced drinks

Starbucks just released a new line of iced drinks for the spring, and they’re…spicy?!

Starbucks Canada has been teasing some sort of hot n’ spicy new concept for a little while now on social media. They posted several cryptic posts this week with the simple caption “Things are heating up.”

Today, they announced on social media that what they’ve been teasing is their new line of Spicy Lemonade Refreshers. The flavours that are now available are Spicy Dragonfruit, Spicy Pineapple and Spicy Strawberry.

Along with the announcement, Starbucks Canada released a video on social media showing people trying the new drinks. Commentary includes “pretty,” “colourful,” “different” and “so good.” People in the video trying the drinks say that the flavour sensation basically keeps alternating between sweet and spicy.

Compared to the reactions in the video, commentary on Instagram is a little more mixed, with commenters writing things like “Literally no one asked for this or wants this,” “How is something spicy supposed to be refreshing? Worst summer drink idea ever” and “That sounds disgusting.”

Lots of people chimed in to say that if Starbucks is going to adjust its menu, they should bring back their Cool Lime Refresher. One person wisely suggested all their spicy drinks could be improved with the addition of tequila.

No matter your opinion on the new drinks, Spicy Lemonade Refreshers are now available at Starbucks for a limited time.
