If there is one category of dining in which Oakville overachieves, it is certainly brunch.

While researching this Top 5, I was astounded by the sheer number of restaurants that serve up a weekend brunch menu. When dining, I was amazed by how many restaurants produced absolutely delicious meals. This family-centered city hosts residents that appreciate the finer things in life, so it’s no wonder why Oakville restaurants make sure to deliver the very best.

Oakville is the perfect destination to satiate your not-so-early weekend morning cravings. Whether you are looking to dine with your family after hockey practice or church, or perhaps to recoup from a late-night adventure, Oakville’s brunch spots have you covered.

Without further ado, here are the Top 5 brunch experiences in Oakville.

5. Harbourside Artisan Kitchen

Are you looking for a restaurant that will suit family members who prefer something tried and tested over something new, without sacrificing your own culinary adventure? If yes, Harbourside Artisan Kitchen is a strong contender. I was attracted by the prospect of eating a Yorkshire pudding early in the morning but ended up ordering Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs. It was a great take on a classic. Though the portion was large, I couldn’t help but gobble it all up. My son also enjoyed his kid’s breakfast, eating the generous portion with no complaint at all, a difficult accomplishment to achieve for any eatery.  For a classic brunch with a bit of a twist, Harbourside Artisan Kitchen is sure to please.

4. Harpers Landing

Harper’s Landing piqued my interest because their menu boasts a lot of non-traditional brunch items that I was just dying to try. It’s not every day you see huevos rancheros on a menu, right? With such extensive and unique offerings, I ended up changing my mind several times and eventually settled on the chorizo sausage hash. To me, Harper’s Landing is the top brunch spot for families with young children. The staff was super accommodating of all my child’s needs and the space was very family-friendly.  The meal was delicious, the servers attentive and the overall experience one that demands my inevitable return.

3. La Parisienne Crêperie

The experience of eating at La Parisienne Crêperie is simply delightful. Imagine looking out onto a busy Oakville street during a gentle snowfall, sipping coffee. Servers are quietly attentive to your every need as you people watch. Just then, a beautifully presented crêpe appears at the table. You go for a bite and discover simple ingredients that perfectly unify the dish, making for a truly wonderful meal.  With its quaint French decor and absolutely amazing food, it’s no surprise why La Parisienne Crêperie is quickly packed for its weekend brunch menu. There are no reservations and limited seating, so if you’re interested in trying this spot, make sure you arrive just before opening to avoid an unexpected wait.

2. Hexagon

Hands down, Hexagon is one of the best restaurants in Oakville. With its chic decor, impeccable service and ever-changing menus, Hexagon is an ideal spot to go for any special occasion or for any regular night out: you only live once, right?  I enjoyed my brunch experience at Hexagon immensely. I took my four-year-old son and we shared a breaded chicken cutlet, with waffles and spicy syrup. I expected to spend substantially more at Hexagon than many of the other restaurants on this list, but it didn’t end up costing quite as much as I anticipated. Don’t get me wrong, you can easily spend a great deal of money on the experience. That said, if you want to give Hexagon the old college try without shoveling out upwards of a hundred dollars per person, the brunch experience offers a sample of what makes this restaurant so special at a more reasonable price.

1. Kerr Street Cafe

Kerr Street Cafe is a trendy spot in the heart of Kerr Village that specializes in brunch, all day, every day.  Their menu is robust and guarantees locally sourced food.  The team is dedicated to promoting clean eating. In essence, Kerr St Cafe is a modern restaurant trying to serve the best food possible with a commitment to conscious consumption. That said, I should be clear, Kerr St Cafe delivers on taste. This spot may have fewer options to choose from compared to the other restaurants on this list, but each plate is carefully planned to ensure client satisfaction. With its premium coffee, teas and even kombucha, Kerr Street Cafe is a spot to try if you haven’t already. Check online to make your reservation before you leave or you may find yourself completely out of luck, even on a weekday.
