A Korean BBQ mini chain with multiple locations in Toronto has just opened a spot in a brand new neighbourhood.

Daldongnae is one of the most popular places to go for Korean BBQ in and around Toronto. They’ve been in business since around 2017, and they now have locations in the GTA, Waterloo, London, Ottawa and Montreal.

The restaurant has several locations in Toronto alone, with a spot at Yonge and Dundas and others in Koreatown, North York and Scarborough.

“Welcome to our restaurant, where we pay homage to the charming ‘Daldongnae,’ also known as ‘moon villages,’ that graced Seoul’s hillsides in the 1950s and 1960s. These unique settlements once revealed an unexplored facet of the city, and though much of this neighbourhood has since transformed through redevelopment, a few precious houses still stand as a testament to its history,” reads the restaurant’s website.

“Today, ‘Daldongnae’ evokes a sense of tranquility and nostalgia that frequently finds its place in literature and art. Our establishment captures the essence of these bygone villages, channeling the spirit of that era while dedicated to serving authentic Korean BBQ.”

The restaurants are all known for having a unique look that captures this particular aesthetic, but that’s not all. Daldongnae is also known as a favourite of celebs, with K-pop stars and internet personalities alike choosing to dine there.

Now, regular folks and famous faces alike have a new place to chow down on Daldongnae’s beloved Korean BBQ.

Daldongnae is now open in the Chinatown/Kensington Market area at 355 Spadina Ave.
