A popular Middle Eastern spot owned by a well-known restaurant group has announced they’ll soon be shutting down.

Fet Zun is a restaurant run by the Wilder & Rose group, which is also responsible for Fat Pasha and Schmaltz Appetizing. Fet Zun serves Middle Eastern classics like hummus, falafel, shawarma and pita sandwiches. The restaurant also played host to a seasonal burger concept called Madame Boeuf.

While the other Wilder & Rose concepts will live on, Fet Zun has announced it’s time to close down with a long and heartfelt letter posted to social media signed by operators Anthony Rose, Robert Wilder, Jennifer Bubleit and Debbie Rothstein.

“Fet Zun was born out of Bar Begonia about 10 years ago and it grew out of an insatiable hunger for more awesomeness in the styles of Pasha. Fat Pasha was going strong and Fet Zun didn’t miss a beat. It was busy. It is busy. I guess that’s not the point. Maybe it never is,” reads the announcement.

“Thank you to all my staff past and present for making these last ten years an epic journey, you were all the lifeblood of the show. Thank you to the purveyors for always supporting and answering your phones and for making our lives easier with products and service. Thank you to our fans and friends and family and guests for showing up over and over and over again. We are blessed. Everything we ever do is the product of so many people. We are so fortunate to be surrounded by a community that is full of brightness. Hope to see you all at Fat Pasha and Schmaltz Appetizing.”

The post shouted out Fet Zun’s chef Mona, saying she “is absolutely amazing and just the kindest person with a tremendous heart filled with passion and a joy of cooking.”

“It’s crushing to close things down. It’s a failure in some degree. To part with staff and purveyors and guests and partners is gut wrenching,” reads the post.

“We told the staff the other day we were closing down at the end of the year, always truly the hardest thing to do. Every single one of them came up to us afterwards with warmth and respect and love and thanks. Same. Mutual. That made my day. It’s always hard.”

The post received almost 500 likes and almost 100 comments on Instagram within just a few hours with lots of people and other beloved local businesses congratulating Fet Zun on their long run and saying they will be missed.

Fet Zun will have their last day of dinner service on Dec. 22.
