If you’re looking for something new to add to your watchlist, a Toronto-filmed thriller with a star-studded cast and plenty of suspense might just be the thing. Shooting wrapped last fall, and if all goes as planned, the film could be hitting theatres soon.
Tuner, starring Leo Woodall (The White Lotus, One Day) and two-time Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman (Rain Man, The Graduate), began filming on Sept. 30, 2024.
The movie tells the story of a talented piano tuner whose life is turned upside down when he realizes his meticulous skills can be applied to more than just music. What starts in harmony turns into a high-stakes game of deception and risk.

The cast also features Raz (Fauda), Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms), Jean Reno (The Pink Panther) and Tovah Feldshuh (The Walking Dead).
Behind the camera is Toronto’s own Daniel Roher, making his narrative feature debut after winning the Academy Award in 2023 for Navalny. He also co-wrote the script with Robert Ramsey (Soul Men).
Production brings together a heavyweight team. JoAnne Sellar (Phantom Thread) and Lila Yacoub (Lady Bird) serve as producers, with casting by industry veteran Debra Zane. White Pine Pictures produced the film, with Elevation Pictures co-producing and handling Canadian distribution. Black Bear is managing international sales, and UTA Independent Film Group is repping U.S. rights.
Filming wrapped in Toronto on Nov. 15, 2024, and while no official release date has been announced, Tuner is expected to premiere in Canadian theatres. International rollout details, including possible festival stops or streaming deals, have yet to be confirmed.
