Toronto spot for sandwiches permanently closes

A source for sandwiches in Toronto has suddenly announced their permanent closure.
Saigon Sandwiches started out mainly serving banh mi but also bowls, poutine, dumplings, and fried pickles. They first opened in 2022.
They upped their game last year by incorporating lots of truffle into premium baguette sandwiches and offering other premium sandwich options like a butter chicken panini.
This week, Saigon Sandwiches suddenly posted on social media that “this could be our last week on Bloor and Lansdowne.”
“We have sold the restaurant, we are just waiting for the paperwork to be finalized,” reads the post on the restaurant’s Instagram.
“It was not an easy decision for us!! We have made so many great friends and gained so many amazing memories! Firstly we would like to say a big thank you to all of you! You have made us feel so welcome and it was amazing being apart of the Bloordale family.”
On April 11, they posted again, confirming the closure and saying tomorrow would be their last day. They said they’d stay open as long as they had food to serve, selling off their inventory for discounted prices. They priced all sandwiches at $6.75, bowls at $8, all salads at $3 and all sides, coffee and bubble tea at $2.
A spokesperson for Saigon Sandwiches says a new buyer has purchased the restaurant and is planning on turning it into a completely new concept. The spokesperson says they’re planning on moving to the United States and opening a restaurant there, but they also hope to return to Toronto and open a restaurant here again one day.
