A unique store in Leslieville that sells party merchandise has announced that it’s closing its doors after six years in business, a decision the owner calls “heartbreaking.”
Recently, the owner of Party et Cie, a small party store on Queen Street East that sells everything from balloons and festive plates to cards and decor, announced that the store will close late next month.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the closure of my beloved party shop,” the brand’s owner wrote on Party et Cie’s website.
“Six years ago, I opened up Party et Cie with the intention of sharing my love of celebrations and creating beautiful memories with family and friends. Since that time, the shop has weathered many storms, but we also built a beautiful community of party lovers, locally and across Canada.”
In the statement, the owner says that it’s become increasingly difficult for small businesses to thrive, prompting her to make the difficult decision to close the store.
“This decision did not come easily to me, nor did it come quickly, and my heart is broken.”
The website says customers can expect discounts and deals in the lead-up to the closure, which is slated for Feb. 27. The store says balloon bar service will remain operational until closing, with no discounts planned for that aspect of the business.
After the store closes, the last of the merchandise will be sold online.
“If you’re in Leslieville, please stop into the shop and tell us how much you loved having us here. It would mean the world.”
