A bakery with Korean roots and locations around the world has just opened their first ever downtown Toronto location.

Paris Baguette is an international chain of French-inspired bakery cafes that originated in South Korea in the late 1980s. They’re known for their ornate cakes, pastries, donuts and breads and they also make sandwiches and serve cafe beverages.

They have thousands of locations across the globe with stores in China, Malaysia, Vietnam, France, Singapore and Indonesia.

The brand opened their first bakery in the United States in 2005, and prior to the downtown location opening, a Paris Baguette had already opened in North York at Yonge and Sheppard. There’s also a location in Newmarket.

Aside from that, there are Canadian locations of Paris Baguette in Edmonton and Calgary. Paris Baguette hopes to have opened 1,000 additional locations by 2030.

“There’s a tremendous amount of opportunity in the bakery cafe space,” Paris Baguette CEO Darren Tipton said in a press release last year. “No one else is doing what we are on the same scale, and that’s attracting a lot of attention. It’s a really exciting time for us as we continue to see growth through franchise expansion and year-over-year revenue numbers.”

The downtown Toronto location of Paris Baguette at 110 Bloor St. W. is now open.
