If you’ve ever wanted to immerse yourself in the heart of a local beekeeping operation, there’s a local winery you can head to where you can suit up in beekeeping equipment and get sticky.

Rosewood Winery is so intertwined with the local bee population, their logo is actually a bee, and they even make honey in addition to wine. They offer tours of their beekeeping operations where you can get a closer look at their working hives.

Their tours have actually been on hiatus for five years due to COVID, but are now back up and running. Tours involve suiting up in full beekeeping equipment, touring around Rosewood’s Estate Apiary, learning about the history of Rosewood and getting an up close look at working hives.

All tours start at 10:30 a.m., run for two and a half to three hours and are limited to max 10 guests at a time, and participants must be at least 12 years old. Dates available for 2024 run from May 25 to September 28.

Safety equipment is provided. You just have to be sure to wear closed-toed shoes, a long-sleeved shirt and pants. If possible, try to wear ankle-high boots and light colours.
