You can see the IKEA monkey in Durham on select days this year

The primate sanctuary north of Oshawa, Storybook Farm, has set the dates for its 2024 tours.
Storybook is home to three baboons, eight macaques (including Darwin, the Ikea Monkey), eight lemurs, a spider monkey name Mr. Jenkins, a squirrel monkey, and Pockets Warhol, a capuchin monkey renowned for his paintings.
Usually, the sanctuary keeps its doors closed to visitors to allow the monkeys privacy and relaxation in their homes. However, once in a while, Story Book Farm allows visitors to meet the monkeys.
The year they’ve set aside seven days for tours from April to October;
- April 28
- May 26
- June 23
- July 28
- Aug. 25
- Sept. 29
- Oct. 20
Each day is a Sunday and Storybook will run tours every half hour between Noon and 4 p.m. The caretakers at the sanctuary will guide a group of ten visitors through the area to meet the residents.

Groups are limited to the ten-person maximum for the resident’s well-being. Due to the limit, once tickets are purchased for a specific day, Story Book Farm will reach out to the ticket holder to allocate the time of their tour.
For the safety of both the monkeys and the visitors, guests won’t be able to make direct contact or feed them directly.
The sanctuary is always accepting donations of money and food for the monkeys who call it home, just part of a list of needs. Donations can be made online.
